Within the scope of the Erasmus+ project “Active Brain Games for Seniors”, of which Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University is a partner, the project team visited an elderly care home today.
During the visit, sincere conversations were held between young people and elderly people, mutual experiences were shared and various observations were made by the project team. Through this meaningful interaction, not only intergenerational communication was strengthened, but also important data on the daily life practices, social interactions and cognitive behaviors of elderly individuals were obtained.
The observations gained a different perspective in terms of educational materials and game designs to be developed within the scope of the project, and contributed to the development of insights for the creation of more functional and goal-oriented content. Accordingly, the games are aimed to both support cognitive development and increase the participation of elderly individuals in social life.
The project team stated that such field visits will continue and all materials to be developed will be shaped in line with the real needs of elderly individuals. The “Active Brain Games for Seniors” project is moving forward with determination towards the goal of improving the quality of life of elderly individuals.
