Welcome to the inaugural edition of our Erasmus+ project newsletter!
Here, we dive into the launch of the “Active Brain Games for Seniors” project, an initiative designed to enhance the lives of seniors across Europe through innovative games that stimulate both the mind and body.
About the Project:
“Active Brain Games for Seniors” is an international collaboration supported by the Erasmus+ program, aimed at developing tools to improve cognitive and physical abilities in the aging population. With a focus on encouraging social interactions and active aging, the project combines traditional and digital game formats to provide a dynamic
approach to senior care.

Partner Spotlight:
This project is brought to life by a consortium of diverse organizations, each bringing unique expertise:
● Universidade Sénior de Oeiras (Portugal): Coordinators of the project with a focus on integrating educational activities that challenge the mind while encouraging social interaction.
● Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University (Turkey): Brings in research and development in digital game design tailored for cognitive enhancement.
● Drustvo za izobrazevanje in socialni razvoj (Slovenia): Focuses on the integration of social development strategies into the project to enhance community engagement.
● Danske Gymnastik og Idrætsforeninger (DGI) Vestjylland (Denmark): Contributes with expertise in physical activity and its role in maintaining cognitive functions.
First transnational meeting:
The kick-off meeting, held on February 7th and 8th, 2025, at the Universidade Sénior de Oeiras in Portugal, marked a milestone for the project. The gathering was more than just an initial meet-and greet; it was an exchange of ideas and cultural perspectives. Partners engaged in deep discussions about the project’s framework and potential enhancements to the planned activities.
Cristina Mourão of USO warmly welcomed the participants. The meeting was enriched with cultural elements, including a musical performance by the Grizalhos Musical Group, which emphasized the project’s focus on seniors, music and community.
An icebreaker activity helped establish initial connections, with partners sharing insights into their backgrounds and the games that resonate in their cultures, illustrating the project’s commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Throughout the two days, discussions focused on the specifics of the project work packages, from management to game creation and dissemination strategies.

Feedback from participants:
The feedback from the participants was very positive, praising the organization and content of the meeting. The insights gathered from this session are invaluable, shaping the project’s direction and ensuring its alignment with the needs and expectations of the target demographic.
As we move forward, this newsletter will continue to provide updates on the project’s progress, upcoming events, and insights from our partners. Stay tuned for more exciting developments from the “Active Brain Games for Seniors” project!
Thank you for your interest and support. We look forward to an inspiring journey as we work together to improve the lives of seniors across Europe.
